It would seem quite primitive mechanics, however, meat, flesh and even nerves are hung on this skeleton. The distance to the target matters, and this affects both the damage and on the chance to miss. Basically, the difficulty in determining the radius of attack and possible weaknesses of the enemy. In the old days, I had difficulties in passing and I had to start either again or with a successful preservation. This was due to the fact that in the game quite often there is a lack of cartridges. Therefore, I recommend that you persist more often and in parallel to pump nearby weapons for all characters. By the way about them. In total, we have 5 slots for heroes of them three main characters and two during the game replace each other, more about them a little later. At the death of one hero – the end of the game, come on new. Quite courteously from the developments to make it possible to replay a battle. There are several variations of battles – for example, protection of unit or victory in a certain number of moves. Well, okay, I think the picture in general, I managed to describe … Let’s move on.
Graphically the game is quite outdated. What do not say, but for example Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, who came out a year before Gorky or addon Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty, which came out in the same year, are better preserved due to a whole picture, the number of environment details and their drawing and, most importantly, a more distant chamber, which smooths out, which shades General perception. In Gorky, we have drawn backs on which the pixel 3d figures move, the style is more like Commandos 2: Men of Couurage from 2001, where there was the same story, but the level of detail can even please the Old Eye. Monsters look especially bad. Curves, angular and for the most part amatable. But with all its obsolescence, the connoisseurs of antiquity with an unsettled look, they will still be able to swallow or even imbue the gloomy atmosphere of the game. I cannot particularly note the music, although I am impressed by the idea of developers to adjust the soundtrack under the action of heroes in the arena during the battle. This gives the action of dynamics, it seems to me. In general, it works for the atmosphere – and okay.
Well, back to the discussion of the heroes and plunge into the plot vicissitudes? The tie is this … In Gorky-17, one of many closed military towns, which fruitful like mushrooms during the USSR and had their own number, something terrible, in connection with which a decision was made to bombard. All this is thoroughly hidden from the public and exhibit a guard perimeter. A year later, a detachment of NATO is sent to Gorky-17, the connection with which is almost immediately lost. Without inventing anything better, a decision is made on the direction of another detachment but already in the composition of three people. The commander in the person of Colonel Vasin is a warrior to the brain of bones, which has passed any war then here and here. Warrant Officer Krotov is an experienced soldier, with an innate Kleptomania inherent in his title. And Vladimir Zamchalov, aka Private Zelenkin – SHI, called up for service from the second year of the institute. They have to complete a number of tasks, sequentially annihilating the entire abominable fauna that will stand in the way of fulfilling the mission. More than once or twice, they have to survive betrayal from a higher leadership and not only. The rest of the heroes are leaving and coming, only Susanin deserves special attention, because he is not as simple as it seems. The plot may seem entertaining, but the developers did not manage to carry out a lot, and therefore plot holes and easy understatement are found here and there. The Goblin translation, it seems to me, went to the plot to the benefit of an emphasis on the serious cabbage soup to army black humor, the development of ordinary Zelenkin as a person and giving dialogues a certain liveliness. In general, their connoisseurs will be found.
So, in the end, we have a fairly entertaining copy for fans of tactics and all step -by -step, humor and serving of a detective goblin and just a pleasant game for a couple of three evenings. I have repeatedly returned to this, as for me, not a fairly forgotten game, and each time I received a certain satisfaction from the process, listening to the next dialogue between Krotov with Zelenkin and distributing the righteous “lily” of all evil spirits, straining his seemingly last gorge. I can’t recommend everyone, but if you are not repelled by obsolete schedules and easy plot understatement, then mercy I ask for Gorky-17. Well, I have it all, see you, comrad.
